Most resellers rely heavily on UPC scanning apps to check profitability, and while that works, you’re missing BOLOs if that’s your only research method.
I found this Bruce Clean ‘n’ Strip Cleaner Wax for $7.29 at a local True Value hardware store.
The sold listings were limited because this product has been long discontinued but this product helped me turn 1 BOLO into 3.
Let me explain.
I could have just scanned the UPC, confirmed it was profitable, and moved on. But instead, I searched “Bruce wax” on eBay to get a broader view of other high selling Bruce products.
That simple name search revealed 2 other profitable products I should be hunting:
Bruce Lite ‘n’ Natural Paste Wax
Bruce Dark ‘n’ Rich Paste Wax
The bigger picture:
Some sellers don’t upload UPC information to their eBay listings so UPC-only searches miss a significant portion of sold data. But more importantly, product name searches help you discover related items that you can add to your BOLO list.
Now when I’m sourcing hardware stores, I’m not just looking for Bruce Clean ‘n’ Strip Wax, I’m also hunting for the Light ‘n’ Natural and Dark ‘n’ Rich waxes.
Happy hunting!!
